The Hungarian government has developed a national card to attract foreign workers to the country. This is a residence permit that foreigners receive when they are employed by a Hungarian company.

Requirements
- Employment contract/preliminary employment contract
- Housing in Hungary (ownership/rent)
- Availability of sufficient funds for subsistence (€10,000 in a bank account)
- Health insurance
- A declaration that in case of refusal, the foreign national will leave Hungary and the European Union area
Required documents
- A valid passport
- Employment contract/preliminary employment contract
- Residential lease agreement/certificate of ownership
- Bank statement confirming the availability of sufficient funds in the account (€10,000)
- Certificate of no criminal record (valid for 3 months from the date of issue)
- Medical insurance (for a period of 1 year)
- Photo of the applicant
Procedure for obtaining
- Obtaining a national visa D in the country of citizenship
*Submission is possible in the country of residence (citizenship/residence permit), in exceptional cases - the employer. - Obtaining a national visa D (valid for 3 months from the date of issue)
- Entry into Hungary
- Submission of documents for the issuance of a residence permit card and the submission of biometric data
- Obtaining a residence permit card
Processing time
- Obtaining a national visa: 90 days
- Obtaining a residence permit card: 30 days
- Total processing time: 7 months (from the date of submission of documents for a national visa to receipt of a residence permit card)
Features:
- The initial residence permit card is issued for a period of 2 years, with the right of subsequent extension for 3 years
- After 3 years of residence in Hungary, the applicant can apply for a permanent residence card
- Spouses and minor children are also eligible for a residence permit card
- Hungarian citizenship can be obtained after 8 years of residence in Hungary
